How we work
What to expect when you call us, how the quote works, and what we stand behind. Worth two minutes before you book anyone — us or anybody else.
Quotes
- Quotes are free and carry no obligation. So are site evaluations for backup water systems.
- We look before we quote on anything substantial. A price given over the phone without seeing the job is a guess, and guesses get revised upwards once the work has started.
- The quote sets out the work, the materials and the total. It is valid for 30 days, after which material prices may have moved.
We don't exceed what you approved
If we open something up and find more than we expected, we stop and tell you before carrying on. You decide whether to go ahead. You will never get an invoice with work on it you didn't agree to.
That is also your right under section 15 of the Consumer Protection Act, but we'd do it anyway — it's the single most common reason people end up in a dispute with a tradesman, and it's entirely avoidable.
Why we don't publish prices
Every job is different. Two blocked drains in the same street can be a twenty-minute clear and a two-day excavation. A backup water system depends on how many people live in the house, where a tank can physically stand and what your water needs filtering.
A price list would mean quoting you a number we'd have to change once we arrived, which helps nobody. We'd rather come and look, for free, and give you a figure we'll hold to.
What we stand behind
- Parts we install during a repair, and the labour to install them, carry the three-month warranty required by section 57 of the Consumer Protection Act.
- New installations are covered by your right to quality service under section 54, and the implied warranty under sections 55 and 56.
- Materials carry whatever guarantee the manufacturer provides. Tanks we install typically carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
- If something isn't right, phone us first. We would far rather come back and fix it than have you unhappy.
Availability
We take emergency and after-hours callouts. We don't publish a guaranteed response time, because we can't honestly promise one. Phone and we'll tell you straight how soon we can be there.
